Several members of the Hongfa America sales and engineering team attended the exhibit, held at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan on September 13 -15, 2022. According to a Detroit News article, organizers proclaimed that the event drew 15,000 attendees (up 64% from last year) and featured over 750 suppliers and hosted over 150 speakers, helping to educate engineers, procurement and management professionals, most from North American OEM manufacturers. Hongfa America has been attending this trade conference consistently for 7 years.
The mood at the show was upbeat and positive, with visible optimism from both attendees and exhibitors. Many attendees had challenging new projects they were looking for component and/or system design help with, or in some cases, attendees were shopping for alternative sources of supply. In either case, our knowledgeable staff was there to answer questions, discuss applications, or explain individual data sheets.
Other top takeaways from the show were that battery and EV technology is having a major impact on the US economy. And, while progress on electric vehicles is being made by automakers including GM and Ford, charging technology and ample charging stations in the US are still a challenge to overcome. Further challenges to meet thriving Electric Vehicle production goals include raw materials needed for battery production, scaling-up to meet production demand and training and retaining the skilled workforce needed in the industry. Fortunately, the US Government is increasing efforts to support the EV industry with tax incentives and funding for EV and battery R&D, supply-chain improvements and battery production and recycling efforts.
US President Joe Biden was in Detroit during the show and spoke about the continued need for investment in new technology and infrastructure in his recently signed $1 trillion infrastructure bill, which provides states and local governments with funds to upgrade transit systems, roads and bridges, high-speed internet access, electric vehicle chargers and passenger rail, to name a few. The funds will contribute to the purchase of much new equipment that contains Hongfa category products and have the potential to grow Hongfa America sales. The President set a goal of achieving 50% electric vehicle sales share by the year 2030 as part of his Build Back Better Agenda and Advance Smart Fuel Efficiency and Emissions Standards. Part of his agenda includes a first ever national network of vehicle charging stations.
During the popular and growing Battery Technology and Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo, Hongfa America announced its new line of Film Capacitors to attendees and the trade press with email blasts to key media contacts and postings to our show profile page, accessible to attendees. This will surely lead to additional marketing opportunities for advertising and promotion for Hongfa in the future. The Film Capacitor line was launched to provide engineers with a complimentary array of products to meet their PV Inverter, Electric Vehicle and Charging Pile designs, well-suited to this audience. The excellent performance and cost effectiveness of these products stands tall next to its competitors within the industry and many new applications and needs for the technology were discussed between Hongfa staff and show attendees. Many of the Hongfa products were discussed with attendees, but clearly there was a focus on AC/DC Converters, High Voltage Products for Charging Piles and Contactors.
Many industry segments were represented at the conference that Hongfa has the capability to support, with its growing product offerings. These include New Energy, Automotive Components, Manufacturing Equipment, Heavy Vehicle Equipment Manufacturers, Electric Vehicle Charging, Industrial Control, Rail Transit, Smart Grid and Electronic Controls.
Many leads were captured at the Hongfa America Booth, due to the strong match between Hongfa product offerings and the industries represented by attendees and exhibitors.
Marketing plans are already underway for next year’s Hongfa exhibit at the Battery Show, with our booth space reserved and consideration for a new booth, to keep attendees interested in learning more about Hongfa and its innovative products, excellent quality, availability, and support. We thank all our managers and staff for supporting this conference and allowing us to reach many prospective and current buyers, engineers and business partners.
